Forum: etree Subject: Re: ok, i'm a moron - what exactly is a batting average?

The definition posted on the site is: The batting average of an item in the Archive is the percentage of people who downloaded the item after visiting its details page (statistically corrected to account for small sample sizes). Ranking by batting average can highlight interesting items that may not yet have received a lot of visits, and it avoids the "rich-get-richer" behavior of ranking by the number of downloads."

Constantly refreshing the directory listing of a show will not affect the batting average. To affect the batting average you have to load the details page, click the download link, go back, refresh the details page, click the download link again, and so on.
